"The righteous shall live by faith." - Romans 1:17
Over the past months, we have walked together through the series Repentance Opens the Way of Life. It has not been an easy road, because repentance is never a shallow subject. It touches the conscience. It searches the hidden rooms of the heart. It exposes the sins we often excuse, the compromises we have learned to tolerate, and the spiritual sleep we sometimes mistake for peace.
In that series, we looked at the danger of idolatry. We examined the sins of the tongue. We considered addiction, worldly habits, bitterness, unforgiveness, false peace, dead faith, the fear of judgment, the holiness of the Lord's Day, and the call to live as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Again and again, one truth became clear: true repentance is not merely admitting that we have done wrong. It is not a passing emotion. It is not religious regret. True repentance is a turning of the whole life back to God.
Repentance is not the end. Repentance is the beginning.
Repentance Leads Us Somewhere
If repentance means turning away from sin, then the next question is unavoidable: where do we go after we turn?
We do not turn from sin into empty religious activity. We do not turn from sin into self-improvement. We do not turn from sin into fear, guilt, or endless self-examination. We turn from sin to God. We turn from darkness to light. We turn from condemnation to grace. We turn from the rule of the old life to the reign of Jesus Christ.
That is why the next journey must be Romans.
The Book of Romans is one of the clearest and deepest explanations of the gospel ever given to the church. Through this letter, the apostle Paul opens the great themes of Scripture with breathtaking order and burning force: human sin, the wrath of God, the righteousness of God, justification by faith, the cross of Christ, grace, sanctification, union with Christ, life in the Holy Spirit, suffering, assurance, God's sovereignty, mercy, worship, love, and obedience.
If repentance brought us to the doorway, Romans leads us into the house of grace.
Why Romans?
Romans has never been an ordinary letter. Throughout church history, God has used this book to awaken sleeping souls, humble proud minds, reform churches, and ignite movements of faith.
Augustine was changed as the Word of God pierced his restless heart. Martin Luther encountered the meaning of righteousness by faith, and the fire of the Reformation began to burn. John Wesley heard Luther's words on Romans and felt his heart strangely warmed. Again and again, when the church has needed to recover the gospel, God has brought His people back to Romans.
Romans does not flatter us. It does not begin by telling us that we are basically good people who only need a little encouragement. Romans begins by showing us the truth about humanity before a holy God. It tells us that the problem is deeper than behavior. It exposes the heart. It brings every mouth silent before God.
But Romans does not leave us in despair. After exposing sin, it opens the windows of grace. It shows us that sinners are justified not by works, religious effort, family background, moral reputation, or emotional sincerity, but by faith in Jesus Christ. It teaches us that grace is not cheap permission to remain unchanged, but the mighty power of God that saves, restores, and transforms.
Repentance turns us away from sin. Romans shows us the gospel that gives life to the repentant sinner.
A New Series Begins
For this reason, Truth Rock Ministry is beginning a new blog series: Romans Series.
This series will walk through Romans one message at a time. It will not be written as a cold academic outline, but as a pastoral journey into the living gospel. The goal is not merely to explain doctrine, but to help readers see how the truth of Romans reaches the conscience, the family, the church, the workplace, the hidden battle with sin, and the hope of eternal life.
We will begin with the power of the gospel in Romans 1:16. Then we will face the uncomfortable truth of human sin in Romans 1. We will examine why even "good people" need saving, why self-righteousness cannot stand before God, why no one is righteous, and why grace alone can rescue sinners.
From there, we will move into the great heart of the gospel: justification by faith, the righteousness of God, the cross, the great exchange, peace with God, union with Christ, freedom from sin, the struggle of the believer, and the glorious declaration of Romans 8: "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Later in the series, we will consider God's sovereign mercy, the simplicity of salvation, the call to present our bodies as living sacrifices, the renewing of the mind, love without hypocrisy, blessing those who persecute us, overcoming evil with good, submitting to authority, receiving weaker brothers and sisters, and living for the glory of God.
This is not simply a Bible study series. It is a gospel journey.
From Repentance to the Gospel's Depth
The repentance series asked us to come home. Romans will show us the grace waiting inside the Father's house.
The repentance series warned us not to make peace with sin. Romans will show us why sin is so deadly, why God's wrath is righteous, and why the cross is our only refuge.
The repentance series called us to turn. Romans will teach us to stand by faith, walk by the Spirit, suffer with hope, love without pretending, and live all of life before the mercy of God.
This is the order of grace. God awakens us. God convicts us. God calls us to return. Then He teaches us the fullness of the gospel in Jesus Christ.
So if you have followed the repentance series, do not stop here. The call to repentance was not meant to leave you staring at your sin forever. It was meant to bring you to Christ. Now Romans will help us behold Him more clearly.

Each post in this new series will be clearly numbered so readers can follow the journey in order. The first message will be:

My prayer is that this series will not merely increase information, but awaken faith. May Romans become more than a difficult book in the New Testament. May it become sunlight for the weary soul, medicine for the guilty conscience, strength for the struggling believer, and a clear trumpet of the gospel in a confused generation.
The road ahead will be honest. Romans will not allow us to hide. But it will also be full of grace. Romans will not leave sinners in the dark. It will bring us, step by step, into the radiant truth of Christ.
Repentance has turned us back to God. Now Romans will lead us deeper into the gospel of God.
