In our last post, we confronted the sobering truth: to withhold God's tithe is not mere negligence—it is theft from the Almighty. But today we must address a question that echoes across the modern church, especially in online debates: "Wasn't tithing part of the Law? If we are under grace, hasn't the tithe been abolished?"
"Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, 'How are we robbing you?' In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me." - Malachi 3:8-9
Yesterday we smashed the golden calf—the invisible idols enthroned in the secret corners of our hearts. But where idols fall, a new Master must be enthroned—or another idol will rush in to claim the vacant seat.
"You shall have no other gods before Me." - Exodus 20:3
Most Christians, when confronted with the very first commandment, assume they are innocent. "I do not bow to statues or carved images, so idolatry has nothing to do with me." But today's most dangerous idols are not carved figures of wood or stone. They are the invisible gods enthroned in the secret corners of our hearts.
"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." - Proverbs 18:21
Sin does not stop at the body. The corruption of the body sickens the heart, and a diseased heart eventually bursts forth through the lips. If we claim to have kept the body holy as God's temple, then holiness must also flow from our words.
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own." - 1 Corinthians 6:19
What kind of change does true repentance demand? At its core, repentance means turning away from every sin that defiles the temple of God—for we ourselves are that temple, the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit.
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived..." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Picture this: on the final day you stand before the judgment seat of Christ. All your life you confessed His name, you labored in religious duties, and you thought you belonged to Him. Yet He looks at you with eyes like fire and says: "I never knew you. Depart from me, you workers of lawlessness."
"Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him." - 1 John 3:15
Life is sacred, bearing the image of God. To take a life is to strike at God Himself. Yet Jesus revealed something that shocks the conscience: murder begins not with a sword in the hand but with hatred in the heart.
"That they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you... so that the world may believe that you have sent me." - John 17:21
Repentance sanctifies, but zeal without repentance destroys. What looks like church planting, if driven by ambition or grievance, is often nothing more than schism. It is not planting—it is splitting, a sword thrust into Christ's body.
Leaders crown themselves with titles, rally allies with slander, and build walls of unforgiveness. Such efforts may wear the name of ministry, but they bear the mark of the enemy.
On the eve of His crucifixion—hours before the greatest act of love the world would ever witness—Jesus did not pray for miracles, for success, or for protection. He prayed for unity:
"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established." - Romans 13:1
God is not the author of chaos but of order. From the cosmos to the family, from the church to society, every sphere of life carries authority ordained by Him. To submit to these authorities is not mere etiquette—it is an act of faith, an acknowledgment that we yield ourselves to the divine order of the Creator.
Yet what do we see today? Authority is mocked, parental honor despised, spiritual leadership trivialized, civil order ridiculed.
Scripture warns with chilling clarity:
"Pick me up and throw me into the sea, and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you." - Jonah 1:12
Repentance is not merely words—it is proven when life turns from disobedience to obedience. And no story in Scripture illustrates this truth more powerfully than the dramatic account of Jonah, the reluctant prophet who learned that you cannot run from God's will without facing the storm.
When God commanded Jonah to arise and go to Nineveh—the capital of Israel's cruelest enemy—the prophet's response was startling: he fled in the opposite direction. His resistance was not simply fear of violence. It was something deeper and more troubling.
"Every valley shall be filled, every mountain brought low, the crooked made straight" (Luke 3:5-6)
True repentance is not a few tears or passing regret. It is the breaking of the old life, the turning of one's steps from the road of sin to the road of righteousness.
Repentance always hurts—it tears down pride and shatters the stubborn self.
John the Baptist cried out: "Repent, for without repentance there is no salvation!" And quoting Isaiah, he declared:
"Even if we or an angel from heaven preach a different gospel, let him be accursed!" (Galatians 1:8)
Why do so many who fill the pews remain unchanged—living no differently than the world, unmoved by sin?
The reason is not mere weakness of will. It is because another gospel has crept into the pulpit.
The pure Word of God has been blurred, diluted, and poisoned.
Paul thundered: "Even if we or an angel from heaven preach a different gospel, let him be accursed!"
That warning is not history—it is God's trumpet blast to the church today.
"Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me" (Psalm 51:10-11)
Repentance is not the shedding of a few guilty tears. It is a soul stripped bare before the holy God—sin seen for what it is, conscience pierced, lips crying for mercy.
And in Scripture, no one shows us this more vividly than David.
Though called "a man after God's own heart," David fell into adultery and murder, proving that even spiritual giants can collapse when vigilance yields to complacency.
"I will arise and go to my father" (Luke 15:18)
Countless definitions of repentance exist, but none surpasses the picture Jesus painted in the parable of the prodigal son.
A wealthy man had two sons. The younger shocked his father with a selfish demand: "Father, give me my share of the inheritance now."
Without protest, the father divided his estate. The son gathered his wealth and journeyed far away—far from his father's eyes, far from his father's love.
At first, life seemed intoxicating. Friends crowded around him, and every day was filled with laughter, wine, and indulgence. To him, leaving the father's house felt like freedom.
"The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber" (Romans 13:11)

Modern evangelism often begins with a simple question:
"Would you like to receive Jesus as your Savior?"
Then, once a short prayer is repeated, salvation is declared.
The problem? This makes salvation rest on man's decision rather than God's grace. Even the unrepentant may walk away thinking they're saved simply because they recited a prayer.
"We were by nature children of wrath" (Ephesians 2:3)
Why does God demand from us such piercing repentance?
Because we were never righteous to begin with.
Scripture declares: "We were by nature children of wrath" (Ephesians 2:3).
We are like princes struck with amnesia—forgetting the Father's house, chasing after husks in a distant land. This is humanity apart from God.
"There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences" (Luke 21:11)
The universe flows silently toward the sovereign purposes of God. Seasons change, stars move in their orbits, and time sweeps humanity along like a current.
We pretend to know everything, yet we cannot see tomorrow. We depend on daily bread and vanish like mayflies before eternity.
Lost in noise and busyness, we fail to notice the mighty hand that rules all things.
The question is urgent: Are you asleep—or awake?
"They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves" (Matthew 7:15)
Even those who truly repent soon discover: wolves lurk along the path, waiting to devour souls.
Jesus Himself warned us. These wolves wear many faces:
Their method is always the same: they resemble Christianity on the surface but reshape Scripture into "another gospel."
