Revelation Series #31: Maranatha—Live Now in That Hope

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’” - Revelation 22:17

This final message is based on the epilogue, “Maranatha: Live Now in That Hope,” from Lift Up Your Eyes to Heaven.

What Remains After The Final Page?

We have reached the end of Revelation and the end of this series. The throne has been opened before us. We have heard the letters to the churches, watched the seals break, listened to the trumpets, and stood beneath the bowls. We have seen a dragon thrown down, beasts rise, Babylon glitter and collapse, the King appear on a white horse, the dead stand before the throne, and the holy city descend.

What should remain after so many images? Not a crowded mind filled with symbols but an unchanged life. Not fear of tomorrow but loyalty today. Not pride in possessing an interpretive system but worship of Jesus Christ.

The epilogue of Lift Up Your Eyes to Heaven begins with humility. The author describes hesitating before Revelation because the book has so often been distorted. Fear-driven preaching, cultic claims, speculative schedules, and careless certainty have left residue in the church. Anyone who writes about Revelation should ask whether inherited assumptions are obscuring the Lamb.

That humility is appropriate for every reader. Revelation does not reward arrogance. Its visions are too large, its warnings too severe, and its center too glorious. We approach as servants asking the Lord to uncover what is true and remove what we merely assumed.

Revelation Series #21: The Song Beside The Glassy Sea

"And I saw what looked like a sea of glass glowing with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name." - Revelation 15:2

Some parts of Revelation make us want to look away. There are bowls of wrath, smoke filling the temple, and a finality that does not leave room for casual religion.

But Revelation 15 does something unexpected before any bowl is poured out. It lets us hear singing.

That order matters. Before John is shown the severity of God's judgment, he is shown where God's people stand. Before the fire falls, the saints are already beside the sea. Before the final wrath is described, the final victory is sung.

This brief chapter is not an interruption between dramatic visions. It is the threshold of the last judgments, and God places a song on that threshold. He does not allow the terror of what is coming to be the first or final word for His people.

The first word is this: the Lamb has not lost His own.

Revelation Series #20: The Song Of Mount Zion

"Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads." - Revelation 14:1

After Revelation 13, the air feels heavy.

The beast seems dominant.

Pressure feels close.

Compromise looks practical.

That is exactly why Revelation 14 begins the way it does.

John looks again, and the final horizon is not filled with the beast. It is filled with the Lamb.

That shift is not a small emotional relief. It is theological oxygen.

The world wants believers to think that the systems of Babylon are the most solid realities in existence, that the pressure of the present is all-defining, and that survival is the highest wisdom. Revelation 14 tears open that lie.

The last word over history does not belong to the beast.

It belongs to the Lamb standing in unshaken victory with His people.

Revelation Series #18: Testimony That Will Not Break

"Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there." - Revelation 11:1

Some things look fragile from the outside and yet refuse to die.

A plant pushing through cracked concrete.

A hymn remembered in a prison cell.

A quiet believer who has been pressed for years and still keeps returning to prayer.

Revelation 11 gives us that kind of picture of the church.

Not the church as admired institution. Not the church as cultural power. The church as something measured by God, opposed by the world, and yet impossible to erase because its life comes from somewhere deeper than public approval.

This chapter does not flatter us.

It shows trampling, hostility, death, mockery, and the celebration of a world that thinks it has finally silenced truth.

But it also shows something the world never understands until it is too late: what God owns, He keeps; and what God fills with resurrection breath cannot remain in the dust forever.
